6th District Candidate Survey. Question 14: What will you do to prevent Trump Administration nominees from causing more damage to the institutions we care about and need for our democracy?
March 19, 2018
Muncie Resists just put out an excellent 15 question survey that was answered by all the primary candidates for the 6th District Democratic nomination. I am putting it on my blog for voters to view and compare the answers of the candidates in alphabetical order.
Question 14: Donald Trump has spent the past year appointing officials like Rick Perry, Betsy DeVos, and Mick Mulvaney to lead institutions with the purpose of weakening them. Donald Trump has also nominated unqualified or radical individuals to sit on our nation’s courts. What will you do to prevent Trump Administration nominees from causing more damage to the institutions we care about and need for our democracy?
George T. Holland: As a Congressman, I would keep my constituents informed! There has to be concern by the citizens. Apathy and indifference have to be overcome by informing the voters! I am a candidate for reform! This is why Congress has to be reformed!
Jeannine Lee Lake: Yes!
Kenneth (Jasen) Lave: Humiliate them in Congressional hearings, for the record. CounterplayingTrump's moves - if the Administration/ Republicans should attempt to eliminate these necessary Agencies afterward.
James Pruett: I would support any legislation that prevents the destruction of our regulatory agencies. However, I do believe we need to constantly review our regulations to keep them up to date and make appropriate changes to protect the public.
Lane A. Siekman: Elect a new Congress that will fight for people not billionaires. It will be a constant struggle to recover from what has happened over this past year and the Supreme and other Federal Courts may take decades to come back. Elections have consequences.
Joshua Williamson: This will happen again, and Republicans will push back against Democratic nominees a few years from now. We need to push for unbiased data driven decisions on 90% of the work done in these positions. We need to move towards automation and save ourselves once and for all.
