6th District Candidate Survey. Question 12: Will you join other congressional democrats like Steve Cohen and Brad Sherman in calling for the impeachment of Donald Trump?
March 19, 2018
Muncie Resists just put out an excellent 15 question survey that was answered by all the primary candidates for the 6th District Democratic nomination. I am putting it on my blog for voters to view and compare the answers of the candidates in alphabetical order.
Question 12: Will you join other congressional democrats like Steve Cohen and Brad Sherman in calling for the impeachment of Donald Trump?
George T. Holland: Be careful what you wish for. Zionist, Anti Choice, Pro war Mike Pence as president? I would have to see what evidence Cohen and Sherman have . What can be proven and documented? Impeachment is serious business. I would have to see some demand from my constituents. I am no fan of Trump's. How much of this is for real? How much is political theater by Cohen and Sherman? Why haven't Cohen and Sherman spoken out against our illegal continued growing military presence in The Middle East? Where were Cohen and Sherman when Muammar Gaddafi was overthrown and sodomized with a bayonet? Hillary's cackling, "We came, we saw , he died.!" Ha Ha Ha! Where were Cohen and Sherman when Hillary and Obama engineered the coup against Jose Manuel Zelaya of Honduras? Look at the resultant terror in both these countries! Both Zelaya and Gaddafi were "reformers"! Could Obama's consent of these overthrows be "impeachable" ?
Jeannine Lee Lake: Yes. Impeachment is a long term solution, but I've studied it, and Donald Trump certainly threatens our American values. I will continue to fight in the moment, but there are grounds for impeachment now.
Kenneth (Jasen) Lave: Unfortunately since Democrats didn't fair so well in the 2016 election, there will not be enough Senators to remove Trump from office - after this 2018 election. I would love to impeach Trump & Pence, and put Nancy Pelosi in command. But even if Democrats win every Senate seat in 2018, there still will not be enough Senators - for a 2/3 majority - to replace the current Administration. However, there can be impeachment hearings in the House recognizing Trump has committed 'high crimes and misdemeanors'. So, the best chance to replace him is in the 2020 election.
James Pruett: If the evidence shows that he has committed acts that warrant impeachment then I will support and vote for impeachment. But there be evidence, not simply news or television stories
Lane A. Siekman: I believe that impeachment will be difficult to obtain given the makeup of the U.S. Senate. I think that a petition under the 25th amendment will be more likely. I also do not wish to see a President Pence. I would work to remove the President in the next election in a manner that send the message that we can solve our problems in a democratic manner.
Joshua Williamson: No. I think we need to do our best to work with each other and not fragment our government even more.
