Lane Siekman has proudly worn all these
titles throughout the years... He is a strong
advocate for those who need a voice in our
society.. His straight forward manner mixes
progressive action with Southern Indiana fiscal
conservatism and common sense values. Isn't it
time for a Congressman that looks out for us?
Born and raised in Ohio County, Lane’s lifelong ties to Indiana give him insight into the challenges facing Sixth District residents and businesses. After graduating from Rising Sun High School, Lane attended Ball State University and earned his Bachelor of Science degree in finance and economics. He then began his professional career by working in the banking industry in Vevay, Indiana. Lane later went on to receive his Juris Doctorate from Indiana University in 1990. He continued with his education and completed the University of Oklahoma Economic Development Course in 2010. While finishing law school, Lane ran for State Senate (District 43) in 1990. Although this bid for office was unsuccessful, the experience left a lasting impression on him. As a result, Lane remained active in the local Democratic party and has volunteered his time to several candidates. Today, Lane runs his own successful law firm in Ohio County. He is also the City Attorney for Rising Sun, and is an adjunct instructor at Ivy Tech Community College. In addition, Lane serves as legal counsel to several government agencies. An active member in his community, Lane is the past president of the Rising Sun-Ohio County Chamber of Commerce, secretary of the Southeastern Indiana Regional Growth Alliance, a member of the Southeastern Indiana Regional Plan Commission, and is the Executive Director of the Ohio County Economic Development Commission. He is also a member of Rising Sun Lodge #6 and the Rising Sun Rotary Club, where he has served as president. From 2000 to 2005, Lane sat on the board of directors for the Dearborn County Hospital Foundation. While attending Ball State University, Lane met his wife, Robin Bingham. Robin graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing and is a neonatal nurse in the Regional Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Childrens's Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio. Married for 29 years, Lane and Robin have three children. The oldest, Allison and Brenden, are fraternal twins and entering their senior year of college. Allison is at Ball State University in Muncie and Brenden is at the United States Military Academy at West Point, New York. Caroline, their youngest, attends Ohio County Middle School. The family resides in Rising Sun and belongs to the First United Church of Christ, where Lane has served as a former Elder, Deacon, lay speaker, and Consistory President. |
